Our story

Welcome to Birch Tree Bookstore, where every book has a story, and we're here to share ours with you.

Rooted in Love: Our story begins with a deep love for books and an enduring connection to family. Birch Tree Bookstore is a labor of love, born from the memory of my father, Burchell “Burch” Smith, who inspired a lifelong passion for reading.

Home for Book Lovers and Artists: Nestled in Dallas, Ga our independent bookstore and art studio aims to become a second home for local book enthusiasts and creatives. We've carefully curated a diverse selection of books, from classics to hidden gems, to create a haven for readers of all tastes. Whether you're a fiction aficionado, a non-fiction enthusiast, or seeking literary adventures for your little ones, you'll find something special here. Creating art helps us understand our history, culture, and the experiences of others. Our little art studio provides a space for you to safely explore these themes while creating something magical.

Events and Community: Birch Tree Bookstore is more than just a place to buy books; it's an inclusive space where our community is always welcome. We host regular events, author readings, and children’s story times to help foster a love of reading at all ages and create a sense of belonging. Our commitment to supporting local authors and artists is at the core of our mission.

Sustainability and the Future: As lovers of literature and nature, we're committed to environmental sustainability. Our bookstore is stocked with used books and remains bagless and cashless to support our planet while promoting the joys of reading. We believe in a brighter, more sustainable future for our readers and the planet.

We invite you to join us on this journey, as we celebrate the magic of books and the stories that connect us all. Whether you're a longtime friend or a new face, we can't wait to share the next chapter with you.

Thank you for being a part of our story.
