Birch Tree Bookstore Event Hosting Policy for Independent Authors
Overview
Birch Tree Bookstore is pleased to support independent authors by offering the opportunity to host book signing events in our store. We host a limited number of “Indie Author Nights” during the year, however outside of that specific event the following policy applies for independent authors.
To ensure a mutually beneficial arrangement, we have established the following policy:
Event Hosting Fee
Flat Fee: A non-refundable fee of $50* is required to host an event at Birch Tree Bookstore. This fee covers the use of our space, basic setup, and promotion through our social media channels and store newsletters.
Book Sales Agreement
Sales Commission: Birch Tree Bookstore will retain 40% of the total book sales made during the event. The remaining 60% of the sales revenue will be paid to the author.
Payment Terms: Payment to the author will be processed within 14 days after the event.
Event Promotion and Setup
Promotion: Birch Tree Bookstore will promote the event through our social media platforms & email newsletters. Authors are encouraged to promote the event through their own channels as well.
Setup: Our team will assist with setting up the space for the event, including arranging seating and providing a table for book signing.
Author Responsibilities
Book Supply: Authors are responsible for providing sufficient copies of their book for the event. Any unsold copies must be taken by the author after the event.
Promotion: Authors are encouraged to actively promote the event to their audience to ensure a successful turnout.
Event Details: Authors must provide Birch Tree Bookstore with event details (book title, author bio, and any specific requirements) at least three weeks prior to the event date.
Cancellation Policy
Refunds: The $50 hosting fee is non-refundable. If the event must be canceled or rescheduled, please notify Birch Tree Bookstore as soon as possible.
Agreement
By scheduling an event at Birch Tree Bookstore, the author agrees to the terms outlined in this policy. For any questions or to schedule an event, please contact us at bookstorebirchtree@gmail.com.
